A Better World Starts with You

Decelerator is a 5-day workshop that offers you the pause needed to gain a new viewpoint on your life – personally and at work. Participants will explore their personal and spiritual landscape using a blend of yogic practices and sessions inspired by leadership frameworks.

An of Era of Acceleration

People are under tremendous pressures today, perhaps greater than at any other time in history. Whatever the lifestyle, one seems to move too fast to digest the experiences that take place each day. The pressure felt is not exclusively because of work, but also due to the enormous amount of material that has to be assimilated to survive in a highly competitive environment.

The natural life rhythm simply cannot absorb the constant impact of living in a hyper-connected, media rich, turbulent environment.

Quite simply, people are destabilized and fatigued.

As catalysts engaged in creating a better world, we need energy to persevere. The true source of power and renewal is often buried to such a degree that support is needed to reclaim it. Once reclaimed we can realign with our intentions with new awareness and new strategies.

Decelerator combines two streams of inquiry: Self (our inner world) & Self-in-World, (our work/our contribution/our service).

Will consist of a combination of self-inquiry practices. Based on Yasodhara Yoga, these workshops offer deep personal reflection to find out: How am I doing? What am I needing? How can I bring balance into my life? What is happening for me: mind, body, spirit?

Will focus on ‘Self-in-world’. Using various leadership frameworks the afternoon workshops will help participants explore: How did my work-life evolve into what it is today? What is my unique contribution? Where is my power and influence (at work)? What is the world calling for these days?

Together we will leave Decelerator having answered:

How are my actions aligned with my purpose?
What shifts need to be made to bring more balance into my life?
How do I express my unique contribution?
What are my next steps?

Tuesday, June 19 (5:00pm start) – Sunday, June 24 (5:00pm)

This workshop is a combination of practices, deep personal reflection, and generative dialogue to help rebalance and refuel. We will pay attention to body, mind, spirit and purpose within the exquisite back-drop of the Kootenays and specifically the welcoming space of Yasodhara Ashram.

what past participants had to say

Decelerator was exactly what my soul needed. I came to the retreat super stressed and disconnected with my purpose, but by the end felt like I had found myself again. Even though the workshop is called Decelerator, it helped me accelerate my vision of what I wanted to do next with my career and put it into action. Alicia and Dan have created a self-empowering experience that gently guides your heart and mind to renew and reconnect.

Participating in the Decelerator program allowed me to look deeply at some of the deep-seeded thoughts and habits that were impeding my full development as an agentic human being.

The combination of clear objectives, structured but open design and a location steeped in a reflective tradition allowed me to do the work I needed to to ensure that my true self could emerge stronger than ever.

Decelerator – absolutely the best thing you can do for yourself personally and professionally! Bar none.

The retreat changed my life; made me a better professional and provided personal growth opportunities that are unparalleled. It is the perfect marriage of personal growth influencing professional competency.

Take the program, you won’t regret it.

Cathy CummingsExecutive Director at the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association
Decelerator provided me with the space, community, and support to really slow down, reflect on my personal and professional practice and re-connect to why I do what I do. I arrived at Decelerator exhausted from a long, challenging project, and in a few days I emerged revitalized, clear on my purpose and full of energy for my next steps. A year later, it’s my “ah-has” from Decelerator that continue to guide my choices and my direction, which feels like a true gift.
